LLADRÓ IN “JAIME HAYON: InfinitaMente”, THE FIRST MAJOR RETROSPECTIVE OF THE ARTIST IN SPAIN

Lladró is taking part in the first major retrospective exhibition of the work of Jaime Hayon to be held in Spain. Called “Jaime Hayon: InfinitaMente”, the show will remain open to the public through April 16, 2023 at Centro del Carmen de Cultura Contemporánea in Valencia, one of the most outstanding buildings in the city’s old quarters.

Their shared desire to innovate encouraged Lladró and Jaime Hayon to set out on a joint path in 2006. The successful pairing would become a turning point in the trajectories of both parties, and has been materialized in highly renowned collections, some of which are highlighted in this exhibition. The Fantasy, The Guest and the recently unveiled Embraced are some of the most emblematic creations by the multifaceted artist and designer from Madrid and have been chosen to take part in this unique walkthrough of Hayon’s singular imaginary.

On view in the retrospective is a selection of Hayon’s most acclaimed works, both installations and artworks as well as products designed for corporations, including some pieces never seen before in Spain. From an educational angle, “Jaime Hayon: InfinitaMente» takes us on an instructive journey through his personal world of materials, tools, inspiration, and influences.

Glass and ceramic, very much to the fore in Hayon’s work, are two of the core materials on view here. Besides exploring creativity applied to materials and a quest for new expressive paths, the exhibition also throws light on the sheer breadth of his creative process. Among many of Hayon’s most personal elements on exhibit, visitors will also be able to see sketches, notes, and drawings.

Located in the Ferreres and Goerlich halls at Centro del Carmen, the exhibition is organized and produced by the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community and CCCC and is included within the official program of World Design Capital Valencia 2022.
