An awards ceremony to honour the ‘Friends of the Spain Brand’ in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was held in Dubai earlier this month, with Lladró’s sculpture ‘Fraternitas’ given as the prize.

Organized by the Leading Brands of Spain Forum (FMRE) in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce among other important trade and tourism institutions, the award recognizes companies, institutions and personalities that contribute to the strengthening of Spain’s international image and to trade relations between Spain and their country. The event took place at the gala dinner of the Spanish Business Council and coincided with ‘Spain Day’ at Expo Dubai 2022.

Recipients of the prize were Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo Dubai 2020; the business group Al Ghurair Investment, manager of La Tienda of the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2022; Etihad Airways, the airline that connects the UAE with Spain; and DP Word, one of the world’s largest port operators that manages, among others, the Port of Tarragona.

As is now tradition, a Lladró creation was chosen for the prize. Fraternitas, the work of renowned sculptor Ernest Massuet, represents two children holding the world at their feet and is a tribute to the brotherhood, friendship and trust between human beings, and therefore the perfect prize for its great symbolic value as well as its timeless beauty.
